چکیده

terpreted as postovulatory luteal phase rather than follicular. Assuming a 2.2 mg/L positive bias with SST, our current laboratory follicular phase progesterone reference range of ,1.6 mg/L could increase to ,3.8 mg/L with SST. We recommend that all progesterone serum samples be collected in plain glass tubes until this SST interference problem is resolved. Our laboratory has notified Roche Diagnostics of this finding.

Isocitrate as calcium ion activity buffer in coagulation assays.

BACKGROUND Ca(2+) activity close to the physiological concentration of 1.3 mmol/L is essential in blood coagulation. Is this also true for the performance of global diagnostic coagulation assays? We searched for compounds that would buffer Ca(2+) activity at approximately 1.3 mmol/L without disturbing coagulation reactions and investigated whether such Ca(2+) buffering improves diagnostic effic...

Studying Effect of Water Quality Parameters on Coagulation Efficiency by Moringa Oleifera Seeds

The purpose of this study is to investigate the performance and efficiency of Moringa seeds from different sources on turbidity. A protein analysis test was done for each source; then two different methods of extraction were compared to examine the coagulation activity for the Moringa's active ingredient. The results of sodium chloride (NaCI) extraction in comparison to distilled water extracti...

مقایسه اثـر دو رژیـم هورمـون درمانی در زنان منـوپوز بر لیپیدها و فعالیت فاکتورهای انعقادی فیبرینـوژن، VII، VIII و IX

Background: During extrinsic coagulation pathway, a complex is developed between factor VII, calcium and tissue factor (a cell membrane lipoprotein that is exposed after cell injury). Factor VII needs calcium and vitamin K for its biologic activation. Coronary artery disease can be induced by increased level and activity of the coagulation factors VII, VIII and IX. In postmenopausal period, est...

Electrochemical Characterizations of Epoxy Coatings Embedded by Modified Calcium Carbonate Particles

In this paper, electrochemical behavior of epoxy paints embedded by modified calcium carbonate particles was investigated during exposure to 3.5 wt% NaCl solution. The precipitated calcium carbonate (PCC) and ground calcium carbonate (GCC) particles were utilized as inexpensive filler for epoxy paints. Electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS), polarization tests and pin-on-disk method w...

Modulation of thrombin-mediated activation of factor VIII:C by calcium ions, phospholipid, and platelets.

The activation of factor VIII:C by thrombin appears to be an important prerequisite for the function of factor VIII:C as a cofactor in factor X activation in coagulation. The possible modulation of factor VIII:C activation by potential cofactors such as calcium ions, phospholipid, and platelets was studied systematically. Factor VIII:C activation could not be studied in the complete absence of ...
